Getting to Studio 28 From SoHo, the Upper West Side, and Battery Park City

Studio 28 is a tattoo and piercing shop at 108 West 28th St., 3rd Floor, in Manhattan’s Flower District, on the block between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. From SoHo, the Upper West Side, and Battery Park City, one subway line gets you to a station a short walk from our door, with no transfers. This page covers each route, what to bring, and how booking works for piercings and tattoos, so you can plan the trip before you leave.

One Studio for Piercings and Tattoos

Studio 28 offers piercings and tattoos under one roof. Every piercer on our team is a verified member of the Association of Professional Piercers, and every piercing is done with a sterilized, single-use needle, never a piercing gun. Jewelry is implant-grade titanium, implant-grade steel, or solid 14k to 18k nickel-free gold. Tattoos are custom: each design is created exclusively for you, based on your ideas and reference images. Learn more about our piercing studio, or meet the tattoo artists before you go.

Booking, Walk-Ins, and What to Bring

Book Ahead or Walk In

Booking ahead is the best way to secure your spot, especially when you’re traveling across town. Book a piercing through our online scheduler, or request a tattoo appointment by choosing an artist, sharing your dates, and uploading reference images. Walk-ins are welcome whenever the team has availability.

Bring Photo ID

Every client must bring a valid government or state-issued photo ID, whatever the service. Piercing clients under 18 must come with a parent or legal guardian. Both need valid photo ID, and the minor’s birth certificate or court-issued guardianship documents are required. Photos of documents aren’t accepted.

Know the Costs

Each piercing carries a $45 fee plus the cost of jewelry, which starts at $35 per piece. Tattoos have a $100 minimum, with larger custom work at $200 per hour and a $100 deposit applied toward the total. We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and cash, and paying the full total in cash earns a 3% discount.

What to Expect Once You Arrive

Most piercing appointments run 30 to 60 minutes. Your piercer reviews your anatomy and placement, you choose jewelry from our curated collection, and the site is cleaned and marked so you can confirm placement before anything begins. Tattoos start earlier, with a request and a design conversation, so your artist has already reviewed your idea by the time you arrive.

Plan a Follow-Up Visit

Studio 28 recommends checking in with your piercer around four weeks after your appointment, so the team can see how the piercing is healing and tell you whether a downsize is needed. Your piercer stays available throughout healing, so build one return trip into your plans.

Questions About Visiting Studio 28

  • What Should I Do Before I Come In for a Piercing?

Eat a full meal and stay hydrated, because an empty stomach raises the chance of dizziness. Get a good night’s sleep, and wear clothing that gives your piercer full access to the area being pierced.

  • How Many Piercings Can I Get in One Visit?

You can get up to four piercings per appointment, with a maximum of three in cartilage. Your piercer will help you choose placements that work together for your anatomy and style.

  • How Long Does a Piercing Take to Heal?

Ear lobes, eyebrows, and septums typically heal in 4 to 6 months. Other ear piercings, nostrils, bridges, navels, and nipples usually take 6 to 12 months. Our piercing aftercare guide covers cleaning and what to avoid while you heal.

  • Can I Bring My Own Jewelry?

No. For safety, Studio 28 pierces only with jewelry we’ve sourced and verified, because we can’t guarantee the quality, material, or suitability of outside pieces for healing.

  • What Are the Age Requirements?

Tattoos require you to be 18 or older. Piercing rules depend on the type of piercing and the client’s age, and the piercing FAQ lists each one.
