Cartilage Piercing in New York, NY

Studio 28 is an APP-certified studio offering cartilage piercing in New York, NY, from a single helix to a fully planned ear. Cartilage sits firmer than the lobe, so placement, technique, and jewelry all matter more, which is exactly why it belongs with experienced piercers. Book through our
piercing scheduler or call
(646) 370-6509. Walk-ins are welcome.
Types of Cartilage Piercings We Offer
Cartilage covers most of the ear beyond the lobe, and each placement has its own character:
- Helix, along the upper outer rim, with room for a single piece or a row.
- Forward helix, on the inner ridge near the face.
- Conch, through the large inner curve, worn as a stud or a ring.
- Tragus, on the small flap in front of the ear canal.
- Daith, through the innermost fold.
- Rook and flat, higher placements that add balance to a curated ear.
If you are not sure which suits your anatomy, your piercer will map options during your consultation and help you plan a look that flows. For a full multi-placement design, see our
ear curation service.
A Helix Piercing at Studio 28
The helix is our most requested cartilage piercing, and it works beautifully on its own or as the anchor of a stack. Because helix placement shapes the whole upper ear, our piercers take time to mark a spot that sits well now and leaves room to build later. As with all cartilage work, we use a single-use needle rather than a gun, which is gentler on the tissue and supports cleaner healing.
Jewelry and Safety
Cartilage is less forgiving than lobe tissue, so quality jewelry is essential. We use nickel-free, hypoallergenic materials only: implant-grade titanium, solid 14k to 18k gold, and implant-grade steel. Every piercing is performed with a sterilized, single-use needle following APP standards, on a clean, marked site you approve before we begin.
Healing and Aftercare
Cartilage takes longer to heal than the lobe, often several months up to a year depending on the placement and your body, and a downsize partway through healing is common once initial swelling settles. Clean the piercing with sterile saline, avoid sleeping directly on it, and do not twist or change the jewelry while it heals. Your piercer will walk you through the specifics, and our
aftercare guide and
piercing FAQ cover the details. To keep healing on track, we recommend a follow-up around the four-week mark.
What It Costs
Each cartilage piercing is a $45 service fee plus the cost of jewelry, which starts at $35 per piece. If you are getting more than one, your piercer will guide safe combinations in a single session. Paying in full with cash earns a three percent discount.
Cartilage Piercing Across Manhattan
Our studio is on West 28th Street, steps from the 1 train at Seventh Avenue and the N, R, and W at Broadway. That makes us an easy trip from Soho, a straight ride up the 1 line from the Upper West Side, and a direct run from Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan. Many clients pair cartilage work with
ear lobe piercings to build a complete look.
